The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump outraged many Americans, but it also gave many others a sense of pride.
And one of those Americans is a surprising figure: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
In a recent interview with The Circuit’s Emily Chang, Zuckerberg embodied what Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report calls a “cultural shift.”
“There are some things I’ve done personally in the past that I’m not going to do this time,” Zuckerberg told Chan, “including not endorsing either candidate.”
“I mean, obviously there’s a lot of crazy things happening in the world, historic events like last weekend,” he continued, referring to the assassination attempt on the Republican candidate.
“Just my personal opinion,” Zuckerberg began, “watching Donald Trump stand up after being shot in the face, raise the American flag and pump his fist in the air was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life.”
“And I think as an American, in some ways it’s hard not to empathize with that spirit and that fighting spirit. And I think that’s why so many people like him,” he added.
Rubin thinks this is a very interesting turn of events.
“The point is that he now feels he can go out publicly and say something slightly positive about Donald Trump and about America. He wouldn’t have done that, say, five years ago. So that’s where we’re winning here and I don’t want people to forget that,” he says.
