11 prisoners break out of New Orleans jail, 1 caught

Authorities reported that nearly 12 inmates escaped from a prison in New Orleans early Friday morning, with at least one individual subsequently arrested.

The Principal of the New Orleans Police Department, Anne Kirkpatrick, stated that her agency was informed around 10:30 AM about the 11 escapees. As soon as she was alerted, she made sure to allocate all necessary resources to the sheriff’s department.

“This is an urgent and serious situation,” she expressed during a press conference. “Please be cautious. I know there are photos of these escapees from the Sheriff’s Office, and if you notice anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to call 911.”

Officials warned that those who assist the fugitives could be considered accomplices.

Warrants for the violent criminals are currently being pursued, with assistance from the FBI and U.S. marshals.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to requests for comments.
