An 11-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault on a victim over 60 years of age and felony robbery on a victim over 60 years of age in connection with the brutal beating of a 63-year-old man by a group of eight to 10 young people on a Chicago train earlier this month.

The victim, Michael Manning, told the station he was heading home after a 12-hour shift when a group of young men and women boarded his train at the LaSalle/Van Buren station just after 11 p.m. on July 8 and targeted him.
“I knew right away that no matter what I said or did, this wasn’t going to work,” Manning told the station. “I stood up, and I’m 6-foot-4 and that was not a good move. I was immediately punched in the back of the head and thrown into the middle of the group. “They started hitting me and I knew I had to get out of the car to avoid dying,” he added at the police station.

Tamia Washington, 18, was arrested Wednesday in the 1700 block of South State Street and charged with one felony count of robbery of a victim over 60 years old, and a detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday, WFLD reported.
