11-Year-Old Girl Stabbed While Protecting Her Mother
An 11-year-old girl was stabbed while trying to defend her mother from her father, according to reports from authorities.
Richard Cody Hall was reportedly arrested on Sunday at the residence of his estranged wife and their two children. The details were covered by a local news outlet, citing the prosecutor.
Authorities claim Hall attacked both his estranged wife and their daughter. Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubre remarked, “That 11-year-old saved my mother’s life,” emphasizing the bravery of the young girl.
Afterward, he allegedly directed the knife at his wife’s parents as well, prosecutors noted.
A neighbor mentioned hearing a car race down the street just before a loud kick against the back door was heard.
“She had just returned home with my parents, bringing along her 11- and 8-year-old,” Aubre shared.
It seems Hall was trying to speak with his estranged wife, but she refused to let him enter the house, according to Oubre.
Reportedly, Hall even broke a window to gain access and then began assaulting her with a knife.
Hall isnow facing multiple charges, including four counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault, as indicated by court records.
While there are conflicting reports about his age—officially listed as 33—he was admitted to the hospital on Monday due to self-inflicted stab wounds and will be arrested upon discharge.
All four victims were taken to the hospital but are reported to be in stable condition.
“I’m incredibly thankful that things weren’t worse,” Aubre commented.
Prosecutors noted that this was not the first instance where the young girl intervened to protect her mother from Hall. “I can’t praise this 11-year-old girl’s actions enough,” Oubre added.
