A 12-year-old Wisconsin boy stepped up to the plate when a 200-pound black bear attacked his father.
A young boy, Owen Beyerman, and his father, Ryan, were having a great time at the Siren Cabin when a horrific incident occurred. KARE 11 Reported on wednesday.
Owen was apparently the first to spot the bear. He shot at it but missed, and it ran off into the woods. As the two began searching for the bear, a neighbor's dog led them to a thicket of vegetation. To their surprise, the bear was about 10 feet away from Ryan.
The bear attacked him, and he tried to scare it off by hitting it over the head with his pistol, after which the bear jumped on his face.
Owen knew he had to do something to save his father's life.
“I saw the bear tackle my dad to the ground. I saw a black outline so I shot at the bear through my dog's back. I thought I was going to shoot the bear and save my dad. That's all I remember really,” the boy recalled.
Ryan suffered injuries to his face, arm and leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The pair are currently working on how to mount the bear and where to place it.
A similar incident occurred in May, when a disabled US Army veteran was attacked by a grizzly bear in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, but survived to talk about his experience, Breitbart News reported.
