120+ Retired Generals, Admirals Sign Letter Supporting Pete Hegseth

More than 120 retired U.S. generals and admirals on Monday joined a letter expressing “strong support” for President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense, U.S. Army veteran Pete Hegseth. Ta.

Letter – same as the beginning reported The article by the Daily Wire came after Hegseth was publicly criticized by critics for the nomination and for announcing his commitment to the role.

The signatories are clearly in support, writing in part:

He understands combat from the grassroots level and will bring a much-needed perspective to the next SECDEF. He has studied and experienced the disastrous impact that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has on our military, and is committed to eliminating it from our military. His focus is solely on combat readiness so that our military is ready to fulfill its mission of fighting and winning our nation's wars.

Retired generals and admirals pointed to Hegseth's very public passion for the military and his record in Iraq and Afghanistan. Together they argued that he was the “warrior” the United States needed to lead its military.

They noted that President Trump selected Hegseth from a list of other capable and qualified individuals because of his willingness to keep fighting.

His supporters believe Hegseth will stick to his longstanding stance of “depoliticizing” the military, which critics have argued in recent years of “DEI”-type policies and other “harmful ideologies.” Mr. Hegseth's objections to what he is doing are being imposed on the military. They continued:

President Trump has the right and responsibility to select key individuals who can deliver on his promises to the American people. Prominent among its missions was to make the military powerful and lethal, including eliminating so-called “wokeness” from the military in the form of (DEI).

Hegseth has always strongly denied the allegations against him by his detractors.

He remains committed to the Senate confirmation process, despite warnings from some Republican senators that more battles lie ahead.
