14-year-old autistic boy Mason Schermerhorn ID’d as one of 4 killed in Georgia high school shooting

One of the four victims killed in a shooting at a Georgia high school on Wednesday has been identified by his family as a 14-year-old student with autism.

Mason Schermerhorn's relatives were unable to contact him after the shooting and so circulated his photo on social media, police said. WSBSTV Video.

“If he becomes agitated please speak to him in a calm voice,” the family posted online.

“Just to reassure him, let him know his mother is looking for him.”

Schermerhorn's mother later told the outlet that her son was one of the victims at Apalachee High School.

Schermerhorn, another student and two teachers were shot dead in the shooting, which was believed to have been carried out by 14-year-old Colt Gray.

Nine other victims, including special education teacher David Phoenix, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, police officials said.
