The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has selected 15 additional drugs for Medicare price negotiations.

Administration officials announced that an additional 15 drugs were selected to be combined with the 10 drugs already negotiated. CMS was until February 1stcent The company was scheduled to announce the additional new drugs, but the announcement was moved two weeks ahead of schedule.
On Friday, the Biden administration released the names of drugs selected for Medicare price negotiations, including Ozempic and Wigovy.
“Today, I am proud to announce that my administration has selected the following 15 drugs for Medicare drug price negotiations. of older adults are dependent on this drug,” President Joe Biden said in a statement.
The negotiation process between Medicare and drug companies is expected to take place over the next several months, and newly negotiated prices will not take effect until 2027.
The medicines selected for negotiation are:
- Ozempic; Libersus. Wegovy for type 2 diabetes and weight loss.
- Trelegy Ellipta is an asthma medication.
- Xtandi, a prostate cancer treatment drug.
- Pomalyst, chemotherapy drug.
- Ibrance is a breast cancer treatment drug.
- Ofev, for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
- Lindseth is a chronic constipation laxative.
- An anticancer drug called Calquence.
- Austed; Austed XR, for Huntington's disease.
- Breo Ellipta, a COPD treatment drug.
- Tragenta, a diabetes drug.
- Xifaxan, for diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome.
- Vreiler, an antipsychotic.
- Janumet. Janumet XR, a diabetes treatment drug.
- Otezla, a treatment for psoriatic arthritis.
Nearly 2.3 million seniors on Medicare use semaglutide treatments, including Novo Nordisk's Ozempic, Libersus, and Wigovy. According to Medicare, drugs covered by the program totaled more than $14 billion last year, the most in this round.
