Tragic Incident on Chicago Train

A 15-year-old girl and two others are accused of pushing a man to his death from a moving train in Chicago while he was returning home from work, authorities say.

The girl, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her age, was arrested on Friday and faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder. This charge relates to the incident involving 29-year-old Kyle Bickham, who was pushed from a CTA Red Line train on September 7, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.

During the altercation on the train that afternoon, Bickham was pushed by the trio and fell onto the third rail, where he was subsequently struck by an oncoming train, according to police reports.

The specifics of what led to this confrontation are not clear at this time.

Bickham’s family shared that he was heading home after a long overnight shift at an Amazon warehouse. They described him as someone who worked tirelessly to create a better future for himself.

“It’s the most hurtful thing that has ever happened,” his father, Christopher Bickham Sr., expressed, reflecting the family’s grief.

Bickham was the youngest among four siblings and was remembered fondly as a caring and hardworking individual.

“He had a passion for writing poetry and a deep love for his family—his two nieces, his siblings; he truly was a loving guy,” his father added.

Having just settled into a new apartment, Bickham was also navigating a challenging commute and demanding work hours.

“He was just trying to earn a living honestly, and this is what unfolded,” his mother, Latanya Bickham, remarked.

Bickham’s grandmother, Bertha Ford, condemned the aggressors, labeling them “evil.”

“If you’re capable of doing something so cruel, what’s going on in your mind? This young man was so kind-hearted,” she told a news outlet.

“He was so loving, always checking in on me, wanting me to know I was loved,” Ford reminisced. “He would find a way to call, even if he didn’t have a phone, just to say, ‘Granny, I love you so much.’”

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover Bickham’s funeral expenses, raising over $11,500 towards a $14,000 goal.

The girl, identified as a missing person from a nearby suburb, faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, mob action, and aggravated battery against a transit worker, according to authorities. She is currently held in custody following a court hearing.

The police continue to search for the two additional individuals involved in the incident.
