A 15-year-old girl from Ohio is making headlines after she caught a record-breaking giant blue catfish almost as big as herself.
Jaylin Parker of New Richmond was fishing. On Sunday, she caught a huge 101-pound fish in the Ohio River with her father and a family friend.
A photo taken that day shows Jaylin holding a catfish in her lap and smiling broadly.
“It’s official, our daughter Jaylin Parker caught a new record blue cat in Ohio!! Officially weighed this morning and it weighed 101.11,” the girl’s mother, Kristen Powell Parker, wrote on Facebook. wrote.
“A big shout out to my husband and his friend Jeff Sams. None of this would have been possible without you all. Thank you Jeff and Chuck for always taking her out fishing doing what she loved. I do,” the proud mother continued. “His health is very stable and he was safely returned to the Ohio River. He should have no problems returning to live out the rest of his life in the wild. ”
Jaylin’s father Chuck Parker and family friend Jeff Sams were also proud of Jaylin with their impressive catch photos.

“Of course, I needed help handling the fish as I only weigh 117 pounds myself. Without Jeff and my dad, none of this would have been possible,” the girl said.
As a young record-breaker, she’s just getting started.
“I’m excited to see where my fishing adventures lead. I hope to do some bigger fishing soon,” Jaylin said.
