A 16-year-old fugitive driver was arrested Friday after 60 Southern California store clerks were beaten, repeatedly run and killed while trying to stop the robbery earlier this month.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Investigators are trying to identify other suspects seen in the vehicle during the April 9 incident. KABC-TV reported.
“I was there at the last moments of his life. I saw his face. I looked at his eyes.”
The suspect reportedly asked Yaguhobi for a $10 mask box and then left the huge discount store in the 2000 block of Darfey without paying, the station said.
Yaghoubi chased after the shoplifters, Kabc said, but then Yaghoubi was physically attacked in the parking lot.
“The door open, two other guys leave the car, one of them punches my brother into his head, holds his head and he gets off,” Yaghoubi’s brother Jim told the station.
The three men then returned to their car and ran around the Yaguhobi, Kabuku said.
“My body under the car was spinning all the way from the front tire to the back tire,” Jim recalls towards the station, saying he saw his brother’s life being taken away.
“I don’t know why this happened,” Jim also said, adding, “I was there at the last moments of his life. I saw his face. I saw his eyes.”
Emergency personnel pronounced that Yaguhobi had died at the scene. KTLA-TV reported.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will determine whether the suspect is charged against a 16-year-old male suspect whose identity has not been released, KABC said.
