Teen Arrested for Double Homicide in Maryland

Authorities in Maryland have apprehended a teenage boy suspected of fatally shooting a 15-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother at their home, just days after a family Independence Day celebration.

The incident occurred on July 7 at a residence on Thales Road in Randallstown, prompting an investigation by local police.

According to Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough, Keith James Jr. was taken into custody at his West Baltimore residence on Wednesday morning. He faces two murder charges along with a firearm-related charge.

Police believe there was some sort of connection between James and the girl, Giovanna Miley, though they have not confirmed if it was romantic in nature. Reportedly, Miley had sought assistance after James allegedly threatened her life if she “flirted” with another man.

Authorities found Miley in her bedroom and her younger brother, Steve Allen, in the hallway. Their mother discovered the two bodies around 7:20 a.m. and promptly notified police.

Defense attorney Brian Thompson stated, “This is obviously a heartbreaking tragedy. Our condolences go out to the victims’ families.”

Police utilized witness accounts, surveillance footage, and cell phone data to confirm James was at the scene. It appears he traveled to the victims’ home using public transport.

McCullough noted, “He was on camera in several locations within the community, both before and after the incident.”

A friend of Miley reportedly saw James brandishing a handgun during a FaceTime call with her.

The judge denied the defense’s request to place James in a juvenile facility, and he is currently being held without bond. Thompson added, “I urge everyone to reserve judgment and allow my client his right to a presumption of innocence until concrete evidence is presented in court.”
