Tragic Death of High School Golfer Hadden Kelly
A 17-year-old high school golfer, Hadden Kelly, died suddenly in Georgia on Monday after collapsing in his yard, according to Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith. Smith reported that Kelly was participating in a group activity with friends when the incident occurred, and despite efforts, he could not be revived.
Following his passing, Kelly’s body was sent for an autopsy to uncover the cause of death.
Smith described Kelly as an extroverted young man. “He never met a stranger,” he noted, reflecting on the teenager’s vibrant personality.
Kelly was passionate about golf and worked at the Dodge County Golf Club, also competing as a member of his high school team. Coach Paula Self and the team shared heartfelt condolences on their social media, emphasizing how much they cherished Kelly.
“Hadden loved golf, and the golf team certainly loved Hadden,” the post stated. “He was our team leader, always uplifting those around him with encouragement. He was our top golfer, often finishing ahead of his teammates.” I mean, it’s hard to imagine someone so full of life just, well, gone.
Smith further highlighted Kelly’s dedication to the sport, mentioning he played daily and potentially had a future as a professional if he had pursued it seriously.
Dodge County High School also expressed their sorrow through a statement, extending thoughts to Kelly’s family and friends. “There are no words to express the sadness our DCHS family feels at the loss of Junior Hadden Kelly. Join us in prayer for his family, friends, and our DCHS family,” they remarked. It’s overwhelming, isn’t it? To think about how quickly life can change.
