Florida Banana Pudding Delivery Turns Dangerous
Earlier this month, a shocking incident occurred in Florida involving a 19-year-old who reportedly threatened a delivery worker with a gun. It might sound absurd, but yes, it happened over banana pudding.
On August 6, Jabari Thomas and a 20-year-old accomplice, Demetrius Tromaine Travis, attempted to rob a food delivery person in Miami Gardens, specifically in the 20300 block of Northwest 34th Court, as the delivery worker was bringing an order of banana pudding, according to arrest warrants referenced by local news.
As per the police, Thomas climbed into the back seat of the delivery car. At some point, he allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim’s head.
Reports from WTVJ indicate that during the attempted robbery, the suspects were trying to access the delivery person’s CashApp when the delivery worker managed to pull out his own gun and fired back.
The confrontation resulted in Travis being hit multiple times, specifically in the leg, chest, and face. He was subsequently airlifted to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The delivery driver, surprisingly, did not face any charges, according to WTVJ.
Witnesses stated that another suspect was seen fleeing towards a white vehicle, prompting police to issue a notice regarding it.
The vehicle was later located in Miramar, leading to Thomas’s arrest.
He’s now facing charges for armed robbery and second-degree felony murder. This is particularly significant because, as reported, he is being held accountable for Travis’ death since it transpired during the robbery attempt.
In a recent court appearance in Miami-Dade, Thomas was ordered to be held without bail, and he might face life in prison if found guilty.
Reaction to the incident has been mixed online. Some commenters expressed disbelief, with one stating, “He gave up his life for a few dollars!” and urging for some form of meaning behind the tragic event. Another user quipped, “Felony murder is the best,” while a third person simply responded, “Chairman.”
