Two bodies were discovered Sunday morning at an excavation site in Los Angeles, California, fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived at a home in the 8700 block of North Lindley Street around 10:38 a.m. Sunday and found two victims, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a news bulletin.
Firefighters said they also found a “white powdery substance” inside the camp, which they described as a “cave dug by humans.”
The substance was later determined to contain fentanyl, according to NBC 4.

“Upon further discovery, we located a powder. With the assurance of the Hazardous Materials Squad, we determined it contained some fentanyl and were able to mitigate and secure it, which we disposed of.” ” said Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief. Scott Hilton told the outlet.
Hazardous materials teams and urban search and rescue experts were called to the scene and assisted in recovering the two bodies.

First responders said the bodies found were of two adult males and there were no signs of criminal activity.
Hazardous materials teams investigated the area and cleared the scene of the hazard.
