An “accident” in the engineering area of a Holland America cruise ship has claimed the lives of two crew members, according to a cruise line report.

The unnamed crew member died Friday while the Florida-based New Amsterdam was in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas, Holland America said in a statement.
The cruise company said the cause of the accident is under investigation and authorities have been notified.
The crew members were reportedly receiving counseling on board.
“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the team member’s family during this difficult time,” the statement said. “The safety, security and welfare of all guests and crew members is the company’s absolute priority.”
The cruise company has not released further details about the crew.
The Bahamas Maritime Authority later announced it was leading the investigation.
