Armed robberies occurred at three convenience stores between 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Shortly after the third crime, police spotted the suspect vehicle and began a pursuit, police spokeswoman Alaina Gonzalez said in a news release.

During the pursuit, the driver traveled south in the northbound lanes of the interstate, causing the crash, Gonzalez said.
