2 female tourists shoved onto NYC subway tracks

Two female tourists from Mexico were pushed onto the tracks by another woman at a Manhattan subway station early Monday morning, according to New York Police and officials.

Police said the victims, ages 20 and 27, were pushed off the northbound F platform at the Delancey Street/Essex Street station on the Lower East Side just after 2:15 a.m.

According to police, passersby rushed to help and pulled the two women safely onto the platform.
The train had not arrived at the time of the accident.

Police officers who were already on patrol at the station quickly arrested the female assailant.

Police say no details about the suspect have been released at this time and charges are still pending.

It was also not immediately clear why the suspect, who did not appear to know the two women, targeted the victims.

The women, who law enforcement sources said were on vacation from Mexico, were taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
