Two people were killed and six others were injured in a mass shooting during a block party in Memphis, Tennessee.

According to Memphis Police, the shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Kearns Avenue in the Orange Mound neighborhood around 7:19 p.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found five victims who had been shot, three victims who were sent to the hospital with serious injuries, and two other victims who were pronounced dead at the scene. did.
“Follow-up investigation revealed a total of eight victims, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene,” Memphis Police said in an updated statement shared with X.
Of the six surviving victims, only one is still in critical condition.
Interim Police Chief CJ Davis said at a news conference that investigators are working to find the shooter.
At least two people who fired shots during the block party are known to police, Davis said.
Police cordoned off several crime scenes along Kearns and Grand streets while investigating the shooting. Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the area by the Memphis Fire Department.
Police said the shooting took place at an unlicensed block party with at least 200 people in attendance.
