Two inmates at a Montana county jail are facing attempted murder charges after they attacked a corrections officer with a makeshift weapon over the weekend.
Myron Scott Goes Ahead, 20, and Ashtyn Zandt Glenn, 18, appeared in court online from the Yellowstone County Jail on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. The Associated Press.
Sheriff Mike Linder said security cameras captured the inmates randomly attacking two officers on Saturday but declined to release the footage.
Hojae Jeong, a prosecutor with the Yellowstone County Prosecutor’s Office, said during a hearing Tuesday that one of the inmates used a makeshift knife to stab one of the officers multiple times in the back of the head, causing severe bleeding.

The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment and released later that evening with an expected full recovery, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bail was set at $1 million for Goes Ahead and $500,000 for Glenn. They also face additional weapons-related charges.
Both men face up to life in prison if convicted of attempted murder.

Goes Ahead had been held in jail while awaiting trial on two murder charges in connection with a shooting last year in Billings that left a man and an infant dead.
The suspect and another suspect are accused of stealing ammunition from a sporting goods store and then firing shots into the victim’s home. Authorities say the baby, just shy of one year old, died when a man holding the boy was shot and fell on top of him, causing him to suffocate.

Glenn was being held on charges including attempted murder for shooting and wounding a man during a shootout last year, and is also accused of firing at police officers while fleeing the scene.
