Authorities said the investigation revealed that the infant was the victim of the attack that caused her death. Police said the child had scuffs, fractures and other injuries.

During a press conference shared by PIX11, Nassau County Police Col. Stephen Fitzpatrick said that Rabanares Plexanzin admitted to abuse the baby.

“He admitted to us what happened to the baby, how he physically abused it, how the child felt that he wasn't him, and how he didn't respect or want the child,” Fitzpatrick said. “He attacked the child several times around his head and face. He threw the child to the ground.”

Officials determined that Rabanares Plexanzin was living in the house with his child's 20-year-old mother.

The one-year-old was also taken away from the house and was taken to the hospital for evaluation due to injuries.

Investigators believe the mother is not involved in child abuse.

Rabanales-Pretzantzin was arrested in Nassau County Court on Thursday and was taken into custody without bail.
