In a surprising twist, a man in a wheelchair found himself in distress while attempting to navigate six lanes of traffic in an Arkansas city. Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a superhero—specifically Spider-Man—sprang into action from a red jeep at a traffic light.

This past Tuesday, Christopher Hellenthal was still in his Spider-Man costume after attending a themed event at the trampoline park where he works. He noticed the individual struggling and rushed to help, proclaiming he had “caught him.”

Without wasting a moment, Hellenthal quickly assisted the man in the wheelchair to safety, just as the traffic light changed and cars began to move.

The entire incident, captured by a security camera, was later shared on social media by local police, who expressed their gratitude towards Hellenthal for ensuring the man crossed safely.

“I was filled with adrenaline,” the 20-year-old recalled, noting that quick action was essential during the busy midday traffic.

He remarked, “I thought, ‘This is going to be pretty interesting if I wear this suit.’” After ensuring the man’s safety, Hellenthal hopped back into the jeep that had halted traffic, just in time before the light turned green.

The video shared by the Jonesboro Police Department quickly gained viral status, accumulating tens of thousands of likes on various platforms.

In an amusing internet interaction, someone pointed out that Hellenthal missed a chance to strike a “spider pose.”

According to department spokesperson Sally Smith, this was a remarkable event during her seven years with the department. They chose not to identify the individual in the wheelchair.

Hellenthal, a Lake City resident near Jonesboro, has long been a Spider-Man enthusiast. He proudly mentioned that he once met the late Stan Lee, the comic book visionary who introduced the complexities of human emotion to superheroes, notably Spider-Man.

Packy Magel, manager at Ultimate Air Trampoline Park, recognized Hellenthal from the footage, despite his superhero costume. He described it as typical behavior for Hellenthal to help others, even while dressed as Spider-Man.
