2024 Miss America Kayleigh Bush Claims She Lost Her Title for Rejecting Transgenderism

Miss North Florida Stripped of Title Over Contract Controversy

Kayleigh Bush, who won the 2024 Miss North Florida pageant, recently disclosed that she lost her Miss America title after refusing to sign a new contract that included provisions supporting transgender individuals.

Bush had secured her title in November 2024, yet she was later informed of changes to the contract that she claimed included language affirming transgender rights, which she declined to accept.

“It felt heartbreaking and really confusing,” Bush shared. “Miss America has celebrated women for more than a century, and now it seems we can’t even define what a woman is anymore.”

She expressed further disillusionment, saying, “I used to admire Miss America for empowering women. Now, it’s disappointing to witness them move away from fundamental truths about gender. I hope they reconsider and return to these truths.”

The updated regulations state that participants must be unmarried women aged 18 to 28. However, under these new rules, “women” now includes individuals who have undergone gender reassignment surgery.

Bush stated, “I couldn’t agree to the new language affirming transgender identities.” She explained that only four weeks after her win, she was presented with a revised contract. “I didn’t lose my crown for breaking any rules, but for not willing to change what I believe to be true.”

Her mother also voiced dissatisfaction with the new rules. Bush remarked, “We promptly set up a call with a director from the Miss America organization and I pleaded for weeks, sending numerous videos, letters, and even legal demands through Liberty Lawyers. But they just kept saying ‘no’ and doubled down on their position.”

Additionally, she mentioned that signing the contract felt like compromising her beliefs, particularly regarding issues around gender identity.

In response to Bush’s claims, representatives from the Miss America pageant emphasized that the rules aim to ensure fairness and prevent discrimination among contestants. A spokesperson mentioned, “Miss America’s stance is focused on applying rules equally to all participants while refraining from discriminatory actions. The contract does not require Ms. Bush to abandon her personal beliefs; it simply mandates that all contestants adhere to the same standards.”
