2025 will be a landmark year for Christendom — here’s why

This year will be an important year for Christendom.

There is a Bible boom in the United States, with many people buying Bibles for the first time, suggesting that Americans are searching for God in a chaotic and disordered world. This will be an important year for Christians around the world for important reasons.

1. Easter

This year, all Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant) will celebrate Easter, Christianity's holiest holiday, on the same Sunday.

Although all Christians agree on the importance and timing of Easter, which occurs on the first full moon after the vernal equinox and is called the Passover full moon, Orthodox Christians typically celebrate Easter. Masu. later This is because the Catholic Church and Protestants use the Gregorian calendar, while the Catholic Church and Protestants follow the Julian calendar.

This year, however, the Passover full moon in the Julian and Gregorian calendars will coincide, meaning Christians around the world will celebrate Easter on the same day, April 20th.

Although rare, the last time the Easter dates matched was in 2017, and it will happen again in 2034.

2. 1700th Anniversary of Nicaea

More importantly, this year marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, also known as the first ecumenical council.

Convened by the Roman Emperor Constantine I in 325 AD, the Christian bishops met for about two months in the Bithynian city of Nicaea (now a city in Turkey).

The main problem the council sought to address was Arianism, a popular heresy of antiquity. Arians taught that Jesus was simply God's creation and was not co-eternal or co-existent with God the Father. This teaching denies the divinity and Trinity of Jesus. However, at Nicaea, the Ecumenical Council affirmed that the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ, was “one flesh” with God the Father.

It was not only a complete rejection of Arianism, but also a complete affirmation of the Trinity.

Importantly, the council developed a creed to convey the teachings and beliefs of the church. That creed, known as the Nicene Creed, has been recited by Christians throughout history and is regularly recited by countless Christians each week.

The First Council of Nicaea is one of the most important events in the history of the Church, and its influence cannot be underestimated.

If you are a Christian, this year you will learn about the First Council of Nicaea, how its decisions influence your faith today, and Why the Nicene Creed? important for Christians.
