2026 G20 Summit to be Hosted at Doral Resort, Miami
President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that the 2026 G20 Summit will take place at Doral Resort in Miami, Florida. During a press conference in the Oval Office, he emphasized that the venue is conveniently located near the airport.
“Hosting the G20 is incredibly exciting,” Trump commented. “As we celebrate next year’s 250th anniversary, the U.S. will proudly host this event for the first time in nearly 20 years.”
Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council, will coordinate the summit, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent is set to manage the agenda. Trump made it clear that he would not profit from the event.
Previously, the Trump administration had considered Doral as the location for the 2020 G7 Summit, but the plan was scrapped amid what Trump described as “crazy hostility” from media and political opponents.
Trump also mentioned Florida’s pleasant December weather as a factor in choosing Miami for the summit. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez expressed his enthusiasm, stating that hosting the summit would enhance the city’s international profile and have positive economic repercussions.
Notably, Trump confirmed that he plans to skip the 2025 G20 Summit in South Africa, opting to send Vice President JD Vance instead.
The G20 consists of both developed and developing nations seeking collaborative solutions to global economic and financial issues. Increased international cooperation and dialogue among these countries will be vital in addressing challenges faced worldwide.
Trump already reached out to Polish President Karol Naulocky, who visited the White House recently, in hopes of fostering connections leading up to the event.
The last full G20 summit on U.S. soil was held in 2009 during the Obama administration in Pittsburgh.
