New York State Teaching Assistant Arrested for Sending Nude Photos to Minor
A 22-year-old teaching assistant, employed by the New York State School District, has been charged with sending a nude photo to a 14-year-old boy. The woman, Anamaria Milazzo, a resident of Elmira, faces serious allegations including the distribution of vulgar material to minors, which is classified as a Class E felony, along with a Class A misdemeanor for endangering a child’s welfare.
According to the Kemun County Sheriff’s Office, Milazzo was arrested following a complaint received on June 9, which prompted an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau. Over a span of three months, officials determined that Milazzo had indeed sent explicit images to the young boy.
Interestingly, despite the felony charges, she was not jailed, a situation attributed to New York’s state bail reform laws. This was highlighted by Susan Ryder Laco, Chief Assistant at the Kemun County District Attorney’s Office, during a comment made to Blaze News on Friday afternoon.
Milazzo’s arrest occurred on June 16, and records show she has been working as a teaching assistant since December of the previous year. Following her charges, she received a ticket for a future court appearance in the Wellsburg Village courthouse.
Furthermore, it was disclosed that Milazzo is a former employee at a facility within the Kemun County Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Reports note that she has been terminated from her position, but specific details regarding her role and termination timing remain undisclosed.
The identity of the 14-year-old boy involved has not been made public; it’s unclear if he was a student at the same school where Milazzo worked.
