25-year-old Tyler Weaver from North Carolina killed in front of his fiancée during a planned home invasion; two repeat offenders taken into custody.

A kart racing champion from North Carolina tragically lost his life during a brutal home invasion, witnessed by his fiancée. The incident involved two men with criminal records, who were apprehended ten days after the attack, deemed “targeted” by police.

Tyler Weaver, 25, was discovered deceased on the floor of his Forest City residence on October 24, following a call to law enforcement reporting a break-in just before 10 a.m.

At the time of the attack, Weaver and his fiancée, Nevaeh Quintero, were inside their home when the suspects burst in and opened fire, according to police reports.

Despite being shot multiple times, Quintero managed to escape and contact authorities. The investigation later ruled Weaver’s death a homicide from several gunshot wounds.

Forrest Police Chief Chris LeRoy indicated the invasion was part of an “advanced robbery,” pointing out that it was a premeditated act targeting Weaver.

The suspects, identified as Quites Watkins, 35, and Jakuvious Craig, 26, fled post-shooting. A warrant for their arrest was issued three days later.

Both men were arrested a week later and now face charges of first-degree murder.

Watkins, captured by U.S. Marshals, had a history of previous offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon and drug trafficking; court records detailed his extensive criminal background.

Craig, on the other hand, had faced multiple felony charges in the past—some of which were dismissed due to a lack of evidence.

Tyler Weaver, who worked as an electrical trader, was profoundly mourned by his loved ones. His sister, Taylor, shared on Facebook how devastating his loss has been, describing him as a kind soul who had been taken too soon.

Weaver’s mother, Amanda Rogers, reflected on a poignant moment at a recent funeral where forgiveness was expressed for the shooter. She spoke of her struggle to grasp that such a tragedy had befallen her son, noting his inherent kindness and urging for prayers during this difficult time.

Maxxis Kart Racing North America paid tribute to both Tyler and his late father, Danny, who passed away in September 2021, highlighting the close bond they shared and Tyler’s unwavering legacy in the racing community.
