2,500 Migrants Depart Southern Mexico in Caravan Bound for U.S. Border

Another group of migrants, consisting of up to 2,500 people, departed from southern Mexico on Sunday, according to social media reports. The group left Tapachula, Chiapas, to reach the U.S.-Mexico border before the next presidential election.

Journalist Wido Lyman posted a video for Real America's Voice to X reporting that about 2,500 migrants left Chiapas for the Mexican border on October 20th.

The Associated Press estimates the number of migrants in the caravan to be around 2,000. This is the third and largest such caravan to depart from southern Mexico since President Claudia Sheinbaum took office earlier this month, the news agency reported. So far, Mexico's new president has not made any changes to the country's immigration policy.

A week earlier, Breitbart Texas reported that about 1,000 migrants had left the same region to reach the United States before the Nov. 5 presidential election.

News Nation journalist Ali Bradley posted a CBP statement on social media stating that CBP is aware of a large group of migrants heading to the U.S. border.

According to Bradley's report, CBP will use the long-standing Title VIII immigration law to remove immigrants who illegally cross the border between ports of entry. But as Breitbart Texas has consistently reported, immigrants from “special interest” countries cannot return to their home countries and are often released from Border Patrol custody to seek asylum. .

Breitbart's Randy Clark posted a video over the weekend showing a CBP bus dropping off a large group of migrants at a shelter in Eagle Pass, Texas.

“As Election Day approaches, sources within CBP (who are not authorized to speak to the media) say that small border towns have seen a significant increase in migrants, including special interest aliens and unaccompanied migrant children, in recent weeks. ,” Clark wrote.

In recent weeks, Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio area began encountering large groups of migrants crossing the border near Eagle Pass. Many of these groups include immigrants designated by the Border Patrol as “aliens of special interest.”

Clark wrote:

In the past seven days, nearly 160 unaccompanied migrant children have been sent across the border to Eagle Pass by their parents or other family members. The unaccompanied migrant children are from several Central and South American countries and most are between the ages of 5 and 17, Customs and Border Protection officials said. On Wednesday, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers intercepted 57 unaccompanied migrant children in a single group of more than 200 migrants crossing the river.

As Breitbart Texas reported, the large group that crosses into a small Texas border town almost daily includes dozens of special interest aliens from around the world. The group that entered the city was found to include migrants from Iran, Egypt, Turkey, and several West African countries.

CBP officials said the increase in immigration is likely to continue and is expected to increase as the election approaches.

“Special needs aliens and unaccompanied children are on the rise,” the source said. “These demographics we have no way of getting back. If no derogatory information is discovered during processing, they will be made public,” the source says.

On October 9, Del Rio District Chief Patrol Officer Robert Danley confirmed the return of large groups of migrants in his district.

It is unclear whether the new surge of migrants illegally crossing the Mexican border into Texas is connected to previously reported migrant caravans.
