Three police officers were injured and an armed suspect was killed in a Saturday night shooting in Atlanta, authorities said.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told reporters outside Grady Memorial Hospital that officers responded to a call about an armed person in the 1400 block of DeSoto Avenue SW around 5:15 p.m.
Officers encountered a person armed with a handgun and a knife before a confrontation occurred.
All three officers and the suspect were shot. The suspect was killed and all three officers were injured.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens told reporters that the injured officers were “alive and stable.” “They are conscious and breathing.”
The two officers were identified as a 31-year-old, a four-year veteran of the force, and a 28-year-old, who had been with the force for five months. Their names were not immediately released.
