A gunman opened fire in a residential area in Minnesota on Thursday afternoon, killing one police officer, two residents and a suspect and wounding three others.
Minneapolis Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that officers responded to the incident Thursday afternoon in a residential area south of the city’s downtown.

In an update at 8:30 p.m., city officials said the suspect and two civilians were killed. A law enforcement source told FOX 9 that a police officer was also killed in the shooting.

In a statement about X, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz thanked first responders for keeping the community safe.
“State police are on the scene in south Minneapolis supporting local law enforcement,” Walz said. “The state of Minnesota stands ready to provide any resources needed. We are praying for all the first responders working on the ground to keep our communities safe.”

As of 8:30 p.m., city officials said there was no ongoing threat to residents following the shooting, but they urged residents to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
