The Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department said three officers were injured in Wednesday’s shooting.
“Three police officers were injured. All three suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” the paper said in a post on ” he added.
Police said the injured officers suffered gunshot wounds and were removed from the area. Authorities told Fox5 DC that the officers were shot and killed by a suspect in a barricaded situation.
Multiple roads around the 5000 block of Hanna PL SE are currently closed as law enforcement responds to the incident. Two nearby elementary schools are also reported to be on lockdown.

The Metropolitan Police Department said, “This remains an active scene, and for your safety, we ask that you avoid the area.”
