3-year-old boy Covil Allen not expected to survive after getting viciously attacked by pair of pit bulls: family

A three-year-old boy who was viciously attacked by two pit bull mixes in Minnesota last week is not expected to survive his injuries, according to his heartbroken family.

Police said the tragedy occurred on July 19 when Kovil Allen and his mother, Natasha Palacios Vega, were visiting a Brooklyn Park home where two dogs were for sale.

Suddenly, one dog attacked Covil, and a second dog joined in, biting the boy and Vega.

Desperate bystanders grabbed whatever weapons they could get their hands on to fight the animals.

“There were adults in the area who attempted to protect the 3-year-old by using hammers and pickaxes to try and get the dog away from the 3-year-old,” the affidavit states. According to information obtained by the Star Tribune,.

Police said emergency personnel rushed to the home and took Kobir to hospital with serious injuries.

Since the attack, Covil’s parents, Vega and his father Charles Allen, have been preparing their son to become an organ donor, according to a tragic update posted to an online fundraising campaign.

“This will celebrate Kobir’s life and save the lives of many more children so that other parents do not have to endure the pain they are experiencing now,” the update said.

Vegas, meanwhile, has undergone two surgeries and friends and family say he will need further surgeries and skin grafts to recover.

Police Inspector Elliot Faust said the two dogs, Blue and Nishi, were a cross between an American bulldog and a pit bull – an extra-large size that is “banned in the UK”.

Faust said dog attacks “are an issue in our community.”

“There are more potentially dangerous dogs this year than last year,” he added.

Charges are still pending, but detectives are gathering evidence that will be turned over to prosecutors for review “in the near future.”

This is the second dog attack this week in Brooklyn Park, about 12 miles north of Minneapolis.

According to the Star Tribune, a 7-year-old girl was attacked on Tuesday but thankfully escaped with only minor injuries.

Police shot and killed the dog as it was chasing another boy.
