Iconic West Hollywood Penthouse Hits Market for $39.5 Million
A penthouse in the famed Sierra Towers of West Hollywood has just hit the market, attracting attention for its $39.5 million price tag, which breaks records for condo sales in Los Angeles.
This mid-1960s condominium has been home to numerous A-list celebrities, including Sidney Poitier, Joan Collins, Courteney Cox, and Katy Perry. The previous record for condo sales in the area is slightly lower, set at $39.2 million for a unit in Century, another high-end building located near the Fox Studios campus in Century City.
The current owners, philanthropists Dan Fishel and Sylvia Neal from Chicago, bought the approximately 7,400-square-foot unit in 2021 for $17.5 million. They made extensive renovations—spending “millions” to transform it since the space was fairly bare when they acquired it.
Initially seeking a second home due to their daughter living in Los Angeles, the couple found this penthouse appealing. They placed their successful bid after learning it was going to auction, having outbid the heir to the Twinkie estate.
After a five-year renovation led by New York-based Workshop/APD, the couple has never actually occupied the space. Fishel expressed his preference to keep it “an untouched gem” for the next homeowner, suggesting his wife might have wanted to stay there more.
The penthouse boasts features such as private elevator access, white oak flooring, custom craftsmanship, and unique bronze accents, alongside three bedrooms, a modern kitchen with a breakfast bar, a gym, and a media room. The open living and dining areas are anchored by a stone fireplace, adding a cozy touch.
Outdoors, a generous 5,500-square-foot wraparound terrace offers spectacular 360-degree views ranging from the Hollywood Hills to the Pacific Ocean. The building also offers residents access to amenities like a pool, spa, and gym.
The listing for this luxurious penthouse is managed by Linda May from Carolwood Estates.
