40 Million Meals Achieved: God's Love We Deliver opens new facility

Celebrating 40 Years of Service in New York

After serving New Yorkers for four decades and delivering an impressive 40 million medically tailored meals, the mission of God’s Love We Deliver is continuing to grow.

To mark this significant achievement, several prominent nonprofit organizations are joining together for the 40 FORWARD Capital Campaign. This ambitious $40 million initiative aims to construct a modern meal fulfillment and distribution center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. This new facility will enhance operations and support the organization’s existing headquarters in the Michael Kors Building in Soho, along with another site at the Northern Dispensary in the West Village. Essentially, it’s a preparation for the next 40 years of dedicated service.

“Each day, we see more New Yorkers reaching out for our assistance,” remarked Terrence Meck, the president and CEO of God’s Love We Deliver. “Liberty BKLYN will not just be a new building; it will significantly change our operations. This will allow us to expand our reach and serve our community more effectively, ensuring we address urgent needs today while preparing for future challenges. With this expansion, we’re laying the groundwork for a healthier city, and we invite everyone to join us in this journey.”

The proposed 30,000 square foot facility within the Liberty BKYLN Office Industrial Building is geared towards smarter and more sustainable growth. Once operational, it could boost the organization’s annual meal delivery capacity to 6.5 million, a notable increase from the 4.2 million meals delivered based on medical needs last fiscal year.

Claudia Wagner, co-chair of the board of directors, emphasized the importance of community support: “Every contribution brings us closer to cultivating a compassionate New York, where those facing serious health challenges can access the nutritious meals they require. Your involvement is crucial to making this vision a reality.”

The expanded facility will not only meet rising demand but will also enable the nonprofit to provide dignity and nourishment to New Yorkers in need. Although the main headquarters will stay in Lower Manhattan, moving 80% of packaging and shipping operations to Brooklyn is expected to enhance efficiency.

The facility will include an extra 7,000 square feet of refrigerated space, a private loading dock, and dedicated overnight parking for 20 refrigerated vans. Excitingly, God’s Love We Deliver plans to expand its volunteer program in Brooklyn, welcoming thousands of new volunteers each year.

This strategic move is significant, especially since a quarter of the organization’s 15,000 clients live in the city’s most populated areas. So far, $23.5 million has been raised towards the total target of $40 million, and thanks to major donors, the new facility is nearing completion. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for January 2026.

Ultimately, the mission of God’s Love We Deliver is a testament to what can be achieved with compassion and commitment. With the Brooklyn facility, the organization is not just preparing more meals; it’s also preparing for a bright future in New York. Support from the community is essential—each dollar and every volunteered hour contribute to their mission of providing nutrition, dignity, and compassion. Looking forward, it’s clear: with New Yorkers’ support, countless more meals of hope and healing will be served.
