Keion White’s Recovery After Shooting Incident
Keion White, a defensive end for the 49ers, is reportedly “in great spirits” following surgery for a gunshot wound sustained in San Francisco early Monday morning. The team confirmed that White’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
In a message on social media, White expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you to everyone for your prayers and concerns on my behalf. The surgery was a success.” He also mentioned that this event wouldn’t deter him from bringing positivity into the world and that he’s excited to maximize his offseason.
The San Francisco Police Department stated that officers responded to reports of a shooting around 4:06 a.m. Upon arrival, they found White with a gunshot wound to his ankle. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to a local hospital.
According to the preliminary investigation, there was an altercation between two groups at the site, and White was struck by gunfire from an unidentified assailant. The police noted that this information is still preliminary and further details will be shared as they become available.
The incident occurred shortly after the Seattle Seahawks played the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium, where White had previously been a player. Just before the NFL trade deadline, he was traded from the Patriots to the 49ers in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2026.
This season, White has contributed significantly to the team, recording six quarterback hits and 12 total tackles in nine games. He has also made an impact during the playoffs, with one sack and four tackles for loss in two postseason appearances.
In a previous incident, another 49ers player, Ricky Pearsall, was shot during an attempted robbery in August 2024. Pearsall missed the first part of his rookie season but managed to make a full recovery.
