5 armed thugs force their way into residence, but gun-toting homeowner isn’t about to back down

When five armed men were forced into their residence in Los Banos, California late last month, the homeowners also got themselves a gun, winning a confrontation and shooting two intruders.

Police Chief Ray Reina He told KFSN-TV “We approached the intruder with a gun that the homeowner legally owned,” the chief said the firefight continued at a residence near Edward Street and San Luis Street.

“It was very scary.”

The homeowner shot two of the suspects, and Reina added it to the station.

Police Scanner Audio dispatchers showed that one suspect was injured in the leg and another was injured in the stomach, KFSN reported.

The two suspects were in custody at Modesto Regional Hospital, where they were expected to survive, the station said. Los Banos is about an hour south of Modesto.

KFSN said police are looking for three other suspects.

The chief told the station that at least four people were inside the house at the time of the incident, but they were not injured.

Reina added to KFSN that she had reason to believe the intruders were not from the area, and that police were looking for possible motives.

“It was very scary,” Sergio Juarez told the station, before adding that the neighborhood is usually quiet.

KFSN noted that a clear bloody handprint stained the gate several hours after the shootout.

“We moved here because it was a safe neighborhood,” Juarez added to the station. “But now, I see it and it's so scary.”

Reyna added to KFSN that there is no significant threat to the community, but he is looking for more information from the public.
