Tuyet Cathy has fed millions of people chicken sandwiches over the years, but those closest to the restaurateur say feeding souls has been his greatest joy.
“Every day, almost every moment, we have the opportunity to give something to someone else: our time, our love, our resources,” Kathy said. “I’ve always found great joy in giving when I don’t expect anything in return.”
Kathy demonstrated that she practiced what she preached by giving up her salary when times got tough during the 1982 recession.
Bill Graham Evangelical Society Magazine decision, Kathy explains: “Too many CEOs are leaving a sinking ship. They should be the last to leave the company. If some people are losing money, everyone should be losing money, not just shareholders. ”
Dr. Jim Dennison of the Dennison Forum on Truth and Culture says it’s unfair to describe Cathy simply as a “broke-to-riches” success story.
“This is what Tuyet Cathy’s decision proves,” Dennison wrote. “The harder our obedience, the greater our reward.”
Cathy sold more chicken sandwiches than most people could fathom, Dennison added, but the decision to close on Sunday was a huge contradiction.
“Every Sunday, he testified to everyone who drove by his closed restaurant about the Lord’s priorities in his life. With that one decision, he accomplished more than many pastors reach in a lifetime. It touched a lot of people.”
