Maryland Man Pulls Gun on Christmas Carolers
Police in Anne Arundel County reported on Saturday evening that a 58-year-old man, Paul Brian Susie, threatened a group of 12-year-old girls with a firearm while they were singing Christmas carols door-to-door.
Details indicate that around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to an incident in the 1700 block of Point No Point Drive in Annapolis, following calls about an assault.
Witnesses noted that the girls, while caroling, approached Susie’s home. They recounted fleeing after seeing him point a gun at them from a bay window.
Subsequently, police located Susie, who was charged with first- and second-degree assault, among other related offenses.
The firearm involved was identified as a .40 caliber Glock, which was reportedly recovered during the investigation.
According to police documents, Susie acknowledged his involvement in the incident. Investigators discovered that he had a loaded gun locked inside a safe at his residence.
In addition to assault charges, he faces accusations of reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a handgun while under the influence of alcohol.
One officer noted in reports that given Susie’s reckless actions—pointing a loaded gun at clearly visible, non-threatening children—and his behavior during questioning, it was reasonable to conclude he was likely intoxicated.
After posting a $10,000 unsecured bond, Susie was released. He is expected to appear in court again on December 17 for a preliminary hearing.
