Six people on a United Airlines flight from Israel to Newark were hospitalized Friday after high winds forced the plane to divert to a New York airport, officials said.
United Airlines Flight 85 departed Tel Aviv and landed safely at Stewart International Airport in Orange County, New York, around 6:45 p.m., where it was met by emergency personnel on the tarmac, according to photos and an airline statement.
United Airlines said the plane, carrying more than 300 passengers, diverted to New York Airport “in response to reports of high winds in Newark.”
The airline said one passenger suffered a “medical incident” and several others were tested for possible motion sickness.
New Windsor EMS announced in a social media post that six people were hospitalized with “minor illness.”
The Boeing 737 refueled in Stewart and completed its flight to Newark, United Airlines said.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
