60 Unauthorized Immigrants Found Guilty of Entering Restricted National Defense Zone in Texas

Federal Prosecutors Convict 60 Illegal Aliens in Texas

In Texas, U.S. federal prosecutors have secured convictions against 60 individuals who entered the country illegally, after they pleaded guilty to recently introduced charges. This legal development follows efforts to address trespassing offenses committed by illegal immigrants in a newly established defense area in New Mexico earlier this month.

Attorneys from the U.S. Western District of Texas informed that these 60 criminal cases date back to May 19th. Reports indicate that about 100 individuals apprehended by locals for crossing into New Mexico were involved in federal trespassing cases, some of which were dismissed by a judge who cited potential legal issues in the dismissals.

A press release shared on Tuesday noted that the Trump administration’s legal actions appear to have tightened in Texas after the latest charges by U.S. prosecutors. “Since early May, additional charges have been filed against those who illegally entered a national defense area in the United States,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated. “As of May 19, 60 defendants have pleaded guilty and received convictions.”

The release mentioned that new charges have been laid for illegal entry into the Texas segment of the Defense Area (NDA) since early May, alongside existing charges under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

This designated area extends from New Mexico through El Paso County, along the U.S.-Mexico border near Fort Hancock, Texas. President Trump established this border zone, emphasizing the necessity of these measures to uphold U.S. sovereignty and security. His directives have enforced federal laws under Title 50, incorporating regulations on land controlled by the Department of Defense concerning national defense and warfare.

Title 50 of the U.S. Code, specifically Section 797, alongside Title 18, Section 1382, outlines the criminal sanctions for unauthorized entry into national defense zones. Individuals are prosecuted under Title 18 for unlawfully entering military areas for prohibited activities within U.S. jurisdiction.

Entering the Texas Defense Area without authorization is, therefore, classified as unlawful according to the latest statements. The ongoing legal actions related to this predicament are part of a broader initiative called “Operation Back America,” launched by President Trump. This program seeks to utilize the full extent of the Department of Justice’s resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguard communities from harmful activities.
