This event will celebrate Trump’s 79th birthday, while also marking 250 years of service for the military branch.

The President has made it clear that he wants the country to celebrate its 250th anniversary in a grand style. The parades this year may act as a precursor to more extensive festivities in the future.

So far, the plan includes showcasing military vehicles, equipment, aircraft, and thousands of service members from various corps and departments. Many of these assets will need to be transported in by train or other means, as reported by the AP.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) mentioned to the outlet that she reached out to the Trump administration back in April regarding the June 14th parade, which will move from Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac River into the city. She raised concerns about the potential impact on infrastructure.

“If military tanks are involved, the repairs to the roads could run into millions of dollars,” Bowser noted to the AP.

Neither Bowser, the Army, nor the White House had responded promptly to queries from The Hill.

Army spokesman Steve Warren indicated on Thursday that a final decision about the parade had yet to be reached.

Nonetheless, another Army representative, Colonel Dave Butler, expressed enthusiasm about the planned public celebration for the anniversary.

“We want to make this an event that everyone across the nation can join in on,” Butler told the Associated Press.

“It’s important for Americans to connect with the military and the soldiers. The parade could be a significant part of that. I really think it’s a wonderful addition to our existing plans.”
