67% of Palestinians Support October 7 Attack, Expect Hamas to Win

A new poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Research (PSR) reveals that 67 percent of Palestinians still support the October 7 terror attacks and the same percentage believe Hamas would win a war against Israel.

The percentage of Palestinians who support the October 7 attack has fallen by just 4 percentage points since a similar poll in March.

of vote The drop in approval for the October 7 attacks was seen entirely in the Gaza Strip, where approval fell from 71% to 53%. Among Palestinians in the West Bank, far from the fighting, approval of the October 7 attacks rose 2%.

The poll’s authors noted that 82 percent of respondents believe Oct. 7 and the war “could reignite international attention on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and increase recognition of a Palestinian state.”

On humanitarian issues, nearly two-thirds of Gaza residents, or 64 percent, said they had enough food to last one or two days, which the poll authors said marked an improvement from their previous survey. 61 percent said a family member had been killed in the war, and 65 percent said a family member had been injured.

A staggering 78% said the U.S.-built “floating docks” serve no purpose to residents. (A Breitbart News investigation also revealed that some U.S. soldiers on the mission believe the docks are ineffective, dangerous, and endangered for “photography purposes.”)

80% of Palestinian respondents claimed they had not seen the videos of Hamas’ atrocities on October 7 (many of which were produced by the terrorists themselves). Among those who said they had not seen the videos, only 3% said Hamas had committed atrocities. Among those who said they had seen the videos, that proportion rose to 44%.

Regarding the outcome of the war, the poll reported:

A majority of 67% expect Hamas to win, up from 64% three months ago and 70% six months ago. As the chart below shows, it is noteworthy that only 48% of Gazans now expect Hamas to win, compared to 56% and 50% three and six months ago. In contrast, the proportion of West Bank residents who expect Hamas to win has increased to 79% compared to the previous survey (69%). It is also noteworthy that while almost no West Bankers expect Israel to win the current war, a quarter of Gazans expect Israel to win.

A majority of Palestinians said they would like Hamas to rule Gaza after the war, but only in Gaza itself (46%). Majorities in the West Bank and Gaza said they would prefer Hamas rule over the Palestinian Authority.

Gaza’s Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has an approval rating of 65%, while Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has an approval rating of 10%. Additionally, 80% of Palestinians support Yemen, and 57% support the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah.

Among other world powers, Russia had the highest approval rating at 26%, while the United States had the lowest at 3%.

The poll’s authors stated: “The poll sample size was 1,570 adults, of which 760 were interviewed face-to-face in the West Bank (76 settlements) and 750 in the Gaza Strip (75 settlements)… The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.”
