Viewers watched in shock and disappointment as the looming political moments blew away engagement among multiple couples in season 8 of Netflix Love is blind A real-life dating show.
Here is the seven jaw dropping moment in which a woman has ended her engagement with a man who claims to be “love” because she believes she hasn't woken up enough for marriage.
One bride, Sarah Carton, is stuck at the altar with her fiance, Ben Metzenga, having no interest in black life issues, LGBTQ issues, and the Covid vaccines, and his church being “too traditional.”
Please see below:
“I love you so much, but I've always wanted my partner to be on the same wavelength so I can't do it today [marry you]Carton told Metzenga at the altar and then laughed before leaving.
After leaving the wedding and getting into the car, Carton can be heard telling her mother and lesbian sister, Lisa, “I don't know, I'm a bit stupid.”
“Sad,” Carton continued. “I was really excited about Ben. He's such a great person and I just… hope I made the right decision.”
When asked to elaborate, Carton explained that he had asked Metzenga about his opinion on “Black Life Matter,” saying, “I'm not an expert, but when I asked him, he said, “I don't think I've thought too much about it,” which had an impact on me. ”
“I also asked him as if what his church views were. [on LGBTQ issues]and he said he didn't know,” the bride added. “So I saw the sermon online – about sexual identity, it was traditional.”
Carton also said Love is blind The producer she doubted Metzenga said, “Equality, religion, [and] Parts have made her to leave her marriage.
In another clip, Love is blind Date contestant Virginia Miller can be heard telling her fiancé Devin Buckley that she is not ready to marry him, and that he continues to sob at the altar.
Please see below:
Miller and Buckley's parents can watch the bride sob as they leave the wedding.
“What's going on?” the child asks. Buckley's father responds by whispering in the young girl's ears, “She said 'No'.”
Miller's father hugged Buckley and told the abandoned groom. I'm disappointed too. ”
When asked why she chose not to marry Buckley, Miller quoted the groom growing up in a “conservative family” and stated that Buckley attacked her when she asked if she voted “with faith in mind” in an earlier conversation that revealed her addicted to her fiancé.
In a scene from the previous episode, Miller is seen talking to Buckley about a conservative who calls himself a Christian, using air quotes around “conservatives” before ranting about how “people” should have abortion rights.

When Buckley lightly challenges Miller and asks if she wants to match her votes to faith, the 34-year-old replies, “I think I'll make a decision out of my faith.”
“I think people should have abortion rights,” Miller smiled. “I think gays should have rights, it's all because it's all like that, all of that, again, becomes a political conversation, and we thought it was way beyond that, but we're not.”
“So it's an interesting time to live in the US,” Miller continued. “Because they thought people could have an abortion. We didn't know we had to go back and discuss it again.”
Buckley silences as Miller screams about the abortion, urging him to ask, “What do you think?” He responds by revealing his belief that he should be able to “state his opinion” on whether his unborn baby was killed or not.
Miller then asks Buckley if he would vote “same” when he goes to vote. Isn't that okay? ”
After a brief pause, Miller replies that he might find the revelation “surprising.”
Buckley then commentes, “It'll depend on my candidate,” and Miller responds by pushing back, claiming, “Usually, when they're part of a particular party, it's because of those core things.”
“What about your family? How do they vote?” Miller asks that her fiancé responds by revealing that “they vote conservatives because they are on the side of what they teach for their religion.”
“My family doesn't vote that way, but they're black,” replies Miller. Buckley replies, “Well, my dad is black.”
In another scene, before Carton and Metzenga's upcoming wedding failure, Carton is constantly pressured to talk about LGBTQ issues, questioning the “traditional” views on his church topic, and even seeing him suggest that he find another church.
Please see below:
Metzenga responded by trying to tell Carton that he wanted to care about his business, saying, “I know what my opinion is, but who do you say I'm right? It's not my job to persuade anyone.”
However, Carton, who appears to be surprised by Metzenga's statement, said, “What does it mean to say 'not your job' to tell his fiance that they're wrong, not your job?' ” he asks.
“I don't know,” replies Metzenga. “But all I know is the community that I feel is connected to.”
Carton then suggests that she “doesn't imagine” her important others being a church member, adding, “I want to make you proud,” and knows that Metzenga will meet in the middle of her by attending an LGBTQ-related event, but she feels she can't make compromises back and forth when it comes to his church.
“I want everyone to be loved who they are, that's what makes the world so beautiful and diversity,” Carton ironically states.
Metzenga tells Carton that LGBTQ topics feel there is “so much” in their relationship and that they “minimize” everything else they have in common with each other.
Carton then takes the thoughts he doesn't care in his mind, oddly telling him that he wants a husband who thinks exactly how he does it.
In another scene, the couple is seen in the bar with Carton's younger sister Lisa and Lisa's girlfriend Kelsey. There, lesbian couples will speak to them about LGBTQ issues and Metzenga's “privilege.”
Please see below:
In the clip, Carton can guarantee that when he goes to church with Metzenga to Lisa and Kelsey, the church will “accept” LGBTQ. But that didn't seem to be enough for Kelsey. Kelsey gave a speech to the couple about the word “acceptance.”
Because Kelsey is like the word “acceptance” is like there's something wrong with us,” Kelsey said.
Kelsey oddly states that when the church says “we accept everyone,” she “hate” it.
Metzenga is seen trying to appease the lesbian couple by saying he is “financially conservative but socially liberal,” but that's not enough for Kelsey, who says that her “privileged” fiancé is still voting in a way that hinders her “rights.”
“Some women experience things that men don't experience in this world or in this country,” she said. [as a lesbian couple] Things you guys don't do. ”
“There are financially conservative and socially liberal people who probably vote differently than you. That affects your rights,” Kelsey spoke with Carton, adding, “I think you need to have a serious conversation about politics because you're in a different bucket of privilege than you are.”
in Love is blind “Reunion” – aired on Sunday – cast members chased what happened in life after competing on the show a year later, returning to reflect on their experiences, Miller doubled her decision to leave Buckley on the altar as he has a different political view.
“Devin often spoke to me about his core values, what he didn't want to talk about on camera,” Miller explained. “I still, and to this day, don't feel really comfortable communicating Devin's opinion. But I'm really clear about me.”
Please see below:
“I support the LGBTQ community 100%,” Miller explained in detail. “I also believe that women should make the decision to choose whether or not they want to have an abortion.”
Buckley said, “I can see past certain things, you can be together and have a relationship and I don't think I completely agree with everything. I think the big thing with me as a Christian is loving everyone.”
In another clip in the reunion episode, Metzenga can be seen oddly apologizing for his so-called “privilege.”
Please see below:
“I knew I was going to get into this experience. I definitely had a privilege in my life, which is something I wasn't proud of,” Metzenga said.
Another strange clip from the reunion episode is shown Love is blind Host Nick Lachie grilled Metzenga about his relationship with his church and demanded that the contestants on the dating show explain themselves.
“You said you couldn't remember your church's attitude towards gay marriage,” Lachie said before asking Metzenga, “Was that true? Did you simply not remember, or did you not want to acknowledge the reality of your church's attitude towards gay marriage?”
Please see below:
“Yeah, honestly, I didn’t remember because I didn’t need to know, because there was really no one in my life that was really involved.
The nagging moment concludes remarkably as Metzenga's fellow castmates glared at him with the obvious light empty as he gave the answer.
