Target Corp. has reportedly fired seven employees who bought specialty Stanley Quencher cups.
Business Insider reported The fired Target employees said they bought the Starbucks x Stanley Cup, which the company launched to much fanfare earlier this month, and were fired shortly afterward.
The limited edition cup is priced at $49.95 and was released on January 3rd.
Former employees say Target store leadership never allowed employees to use their positions as Target employees to gain “an unfair advantage over customers” to obtain products. The newspaper reported that he pointed out a provision that says that this cannot be considered a factor in dismissal. .

Employees who were fired told Business Insider they had no prior knowledge of the policy.

The seven workers weren’t the only ones who lost their jobs in connection with the cup, Business Insider said.
