BORDERTOWN, USA: Police in Tacoma, Washington, have seized approximately 87,000 fentanyl pills from an alleged drug trafficker associated with a Mexican cartel, city officials said in a written statement. Officers also found 83 pounds of methamphetamine and heroin that were allegedly brought into Washington from the Mexican border.
“During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had ties to cartel members near the southern border of the United States,” Tacoma Police Department Public Information Officer William Muse said in a written statement. “The suspects then planned to transport large quantities of narcotics to Tacoma for distribution along the Pacific Avenue corridor.”
Breitbart Texas contacted Tacoma police officials regarding the identity and nationality of the suspected drug trafficker. Officials said they were not authorized to release that information. Officials with the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office could not be reached for comment.
Police said the suspect “specialized in distributing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin” along the Pacific Avenue corridor. Investigators learned the suspect had ties to cartel members near the U.S. southern border. The suspect allegedly intended to take a large amount of drugs back to the Tacoma area.
Investigators report the estimated value of the seized drugs is $550,000. In addition to the drugs, investigators also reportedly seized a handgun loaded with armor-piercing bullets. Police described the bullet as a “cop-killer bullet.” Police also seized the bulletproof vest the suspect was wearing at the time of his arrest, officials said.
A search of the suspect’s residence resulted in the seizure of four additional firearms. Police said two of those guns were reported stolen. The seized items included two .556 caliber rifles modified into a “pistol” configuration, the statement said. Additional armor-piercing ammunition was also seized from the home.
“This investigation and subsequent arrests represent an important victory in addressing the opioid and fentanyl crisis and reducing violence related to drug trafficking,” Muse concluded.
