Caitlin Clark's injury sidelines Fever star for another match

Injury Forces Caitlin Clark to Miss Game

New York – Caitlin Clark was ruled out of Wednesday night’s game against the New York Liberty shortly before the start, following a groin injury she sustained during the Indiana Fever’s match against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.

This is the third time Clark has had to sit out this season.

Previously recovering from a quad injury in May, she has also dealt with recurring tension in her left groin.

Clark was hurt late in the fourth quarter of an 85-77 loss to the Sun in Boston. After assisting on a final basket, she appeared to limp and grimaced while clutching her left foot. It was an emotional moment as she covered her head with a towel while sitting on the bench afterward.

Head coach Stephanie White commented on the physicality directed towards Clark. While acknowledging that Clark wasn’t injured during any particular play, she noted that Clark needs to adapt to the increased physicality and find ways to turn it to her advantage.

“There’s a level of physicality that they can play against her. I’ve experienced it as her opponent, and now I see it from the coaching side. It’s something we have to work on,” White said. “Our league’s overall level of physicality has increased significantly.”

Clark has never missed a game in her college career at Iowa, nor in her first WNBA season, which makes this situation particularly frustrating.

Her latest injury comes right before the All-Star Break, where she was set to captain her team and also participate in the three-point contest.
