Anthony Bernal Invokes the 5th Amendment on Claims of Biden's Cover-up

Bernal Declines to Answer Questions on Biden’s Health

Anthony Bernal, who served as Chief of Staff for First Lady Jill Biden, chose not to respond to inquiries regarding former President Joe Biden’s alleged cognitive decline cover-up.

Referred to as Jill Biden’s “work husband,” Bernal invoked the Fifth Amendment during a session with a House committee focused on surveillance and government reform.

Representative James Comer (R-KY) shared that Bernal “pleaded the fifth” when asked if the former president had directed him to misrepresent his health, or if someone else had assumed presidential responsibilities on Biden’s behalf.

“Anthony Bernal – Chief of Staff of Jill Biden – just invoked the Fifth Amendment during the congressional deposition,” Comer tweeted. He went on to mention that a recent report indicated that Bernal undertook questionable enforcement actions during Biden’s presidency amid concerns over his cognitive abilities.

Comer remarked that Bernal’s decision to invoke the Fifth was a measure to shield himself from potential criminal liability.

“During his deposition, Bernal invoked the fifth when questioned about whether unelected individuals and family members had taken on presidential duties, and if Joe Biden had asked him to lie about his health,” Comer continued. “This represents a historic scandal, and Americans deserve transparency and accountability.”

Breitbart News reported in June that Bernal received a subpoena from Comer, who heads the House Oversight Committee.

On Wednesday, Bernal maintained that he would not participate in a transcribed interview concerning these allegations.

Originally, he was set to appear on Thursday, but, following information related to testimony given by Neera Tanden, former Director of the National Policy Council, Bernal decided against it, feeling he wouldn’t be protected in the same way.

The subpoena stemmed from past remarks made by former Democrat National Committee vice-chairman David Hogg, who accused him of “exerting unchecked power in the White House,” as part of a video investigation by Project Veritas.
