Lane Kiffin seeks to recruit Hannah 'Catfish Girl' Barron to Ole Miss

Ole Miss Coach Targets Influencer with Unique Strategy

It’s an interesting approach. Let’s see how it goes for him.

Lane Kiffin, the head coach of Ole Miss, recently made a move involving social media influencer Hanna Baron. It’s a bit of a gamble, almost like taking a low-percentage shot in basketball.

Baron, who’s gained recognition for her adventurous outdoor activities, particularly at 29, has made a name for herself catching fish with her bare hands, a technique she calls “catfish noodles.” It’s quite wild, really.

Known as “The Catfish Girl,” she boasts around 8 million followers across various social media platforms, though her presence on X has been less active. The last time she posted on X was back in early December, just before her recent return on July 13th.

When Baron rejoined the app, Kiffin took the opportunity to engage with her. His message included a playful invitation to visit Mississippi, employing a catchphrase often used for player recruitment.

Kiffin’s post responded to some of Baron’s previous posts showcasing her best fish catches from the past year. The strategy seems intended to catch her attention with the familiar “come to the SIP” phrase.

Certainly, the move drew a mix of reactions on social media. Fans quickly commented on the unusual nature of a 50-year-old man reaching out to a 29-year-old influencer from Alabama.

One user sarcastically questioned how a public university employee would phrase such a comment. Another chimed in about the complications of age in college football coaching.

Interestingly, some online users appreciated the bold attempt, showing mixed sentiments about Kiffin’s outreach.

In response to all the chatter, Baron kept it short and sweet, simply replying with “#Rolltide,” a classic nod to her Alabama roots.
