Kate Linklark Withdraws from WNBA All-Star Game
Indiana Fever player Kate Linklark announced on Thursday that he won’t be taking part in the WNBA All-Star Game or the associated events, citing a recent groin injury.
Linklark made his decision public through a statement from his team. He expressed disappointment about missing the chance to participate in both the All-Star Game and the three-point contest. “I have to prioritize my recovery, but I’ll still be at Gainbridge Field House to support my teammates,” he said, adding that he looks forward to helping coach Sandy Blondero.
“It’s tough not being able to compete, especially during such a significant event,” he admitted, yet he remains enthusiastic about the All-Star festivities. “I truly believe this will be one for the books.”
Linklark’s injury occurred during the final moments of a match against the Connecticut Sun, where he appeared to tweak his body while making a pass. This season has already been challenging for him, having missed nearly 12 games due to various injuries, yet he still topped the fan voting for the All-Star Game.
As for how long he’ll be sidelined, that’s still uncertain. The Fever, currently sitting at a record of 12-11, will face New York Liberty on July 22.
