Biden's aide Annie Tomasini called to testify in investigation regarding suspected cognitive decline.

Annie Tomasini, who previously served as an assistant to President Joe Biden and was the vice chief of staff, is the latest member of Biden’s team to be called before the House Oversight Committee.

Her attorneys have asked Committee Chair James Comer to issue a subpoena for her to appear at a hearing scheduled for this Friday, which will be led by staff.

In a related development, Anthony Bernal, a former chief of staff for Jill Biden, received his own subpoena after missing a scheduled interview once the White House lifted executive privileges.

Sources indicate that Bernal has cited the Fifth Amendment in response to questions posed by House staff.

Interestingly, a recent book highlights how Tomasini and Bernal were crucial in managing Biden’s teleprompter during his speeches, especially when he faced difficulties articulating messages, a point Trump has turned into a campaign narrative.

The authors describe the duo as “fierce and loyal,” with a close relationship akin to siblings within Biden’s inner circle. They note that both Tomasini and Bernal often took on roles traditionally held by permanent White House staff.

Tomasini’s importance is underscored by her deep connections within the Biden family, including her extensive contact with Hunter Biden, whom she often referred to as a “brother” in emails. These communications spanned multiple years, from 2010 to 2016, leading up to Hunter’s legal issues.

While the investigations are ongoing, sources close to the Biden team describe the efforts led by congressional Republicans as politically motivated attempts to undermine the Biden administration. They argue that these tactics reflect a broader pattern of politically charged engagements.
